Paphiopedilum hirsutissimum is a terrestrial or semi-epiphytic plant. The leaves are basally arranged in two rows, lanceolate, leathery, dark green on the upper surface, and light green with occasional purple spots on the lower surface; the scape is erect, 20-30 cm long, usually green and covered with deep purple pubescence, the flowers are large, with the lower half of the petals yellow-green and densely spotted with purple-brown, the upper half rose purple with white suffusion, the lip is light green yellow with small purple-brown spots, the staminode is similar in color to the lip, the petals are spoon-shaped or narrowly ovate-spoon-shaped; blooming period is April to May.
