What flowers are best for families in the north
Abstract: This article introduces the best flowers for families in the north and the recommended cold-resistant flowers for courtyard plant care in the north, followed by the introduction of some small experiences in green plant maintenance by our station's editor.
Raising flowers in the north is limited by regional conditions. In autumn and winter each year, temperatures drop rapidly from over 20 degrees to below 10 degrees, and in winter, temperatures can drop to below 0 degrees. Due to the continuous drop in temperature, most plants enter a short period of dormancy, which means that in the north, flowers do not bloom in winter.
Most of the flowers sold in the Chinese market are targeted at the south, as the southern region has higher temperatures and higher humidity, which is more suitable for plant growth. Flower cultivation is actually not very friendly to the north, and it is essential to learn to distinguish correctly when purchasing flowers.
Of course, it's not that no flowers can be raised in the north. There are still some plant species that can be nurtured. For example, the following six plants can be purchased, and they have at least better frost resistance. However, they still need to be moved indoors in winter.
Clematis
Clematis is the only plant I've ever raised that can bloom all year round when placed in the house. In the north, during spring, summer, and autumn, clematis can be placed in the yard or on the balcony. When temperatures drop to below 10 degrees in winter, clematis should be moved indoors and placed on the balcony. With normal watering and fertilizing, the blooming period can continue, although the number of flowers will be somewhat reduced.
Rose
What flowers are best for families in the north
Flower enthusiasts cannot do without raising roses. There are many varieties of roses, and the colors are different. In recent years, roses have also become very popular, with more and more people buying them. Roses in the north are extremely cold-resistant, they won't freeze to death in winter, and can be planted in the ground or in pots, even surviving outside in winter.
If left outside in winter, the rose blooming period will stop, but if kept indoors, it will continue to bloom. Potted roses need to be fertilized continuously, with constant water and light supply. Only by meeting these three conditions can the blooming period be sustained.
Blue Snowflake
In the north, you can also choose to raise blue snowflakes. Blue snowflakes can be trained into a棒棒糖 shape. As a potted plant, blue snowflakes grow very fast. They can be left on the balcony during spring and summer without any care and still bloom. In autumn, to prevent leaves from falling due to low temperatures, they should be moved to the balcony by October. As long as the temperature is above 0 degrees and there is sunlight on the balcony, they can continue to bloom. Blue snowflakes also require a lot of fertilizer.
Longevity Flower
In Chinese households, the number of longevity flowers raised is the highest, and they are very popular among middle-aged and elderly people, especially older women. When properly cared for, longevity flowers can bloom all year round, with the blooming period mainly concentrated in winter and the following spring. Placed on the balcony, they do not require rich maintenance experience to continue growing and blooming. Moreover, the price of longevity flowers is very affordable.
