How to propagate Jasmine
The editor answers for you how to propagate Jasmine and shares some small experiences in plant cultivation, such as Jasmine propagation methods. It's quite good knowledge, recommended for collection!
Jasmine flowers are pure and beautiful, especially when they bloom. Placing a pot at home will fill the whole room with a refreshing fragrance. For some flower lovers, it's truly irresistible. Speaking of this, as a flower-loving person, how do you propagate Jasmine? Some may have learned about propagating Jasmine, but as a beginner, it might not be easy to operate. Let's take a look at the propagation methods for Jasmine.
【Jasmine Propagation Methods】
<1. Cutting>
Jasmine cuttings are relatively easy to survive but should be done during the growing season (May to October), with the plum rain season being the best. First, choose new branches with 4-5 nodes and at least two pairs of buds, about 10-12 cm long. The lower cut should be about 1 cm below the node, and the upper cut should be about 1 cm above the node, with the upper cut slanted to prevent waterlogging and rot.
Only the top 1-2 pairs of leaves can be left on the cutting, with each leaf cut in half. Then, insert the cutting into the soil 5 cm deep. After preparing the cutting, it needs to be tidied up, with all side branches and lower leaves cut off to reduce water evaporation and prevent a sharp contradiction of water loss, which could lead to death.
<2. Division>
First, cut or split the rhizome at the branching point with a pruning shear, dividing it into several parts with 2-3 tufted stems each. The best time for division is in March when new buds have not yet emerged. Alternatively, it can be done in early autumn when the plant is about to enter dormancy, but no later than September, as the cooler temperatures then are not conducive to root growth.
<3. Layering>
How to propagate Jasmine
Layering propagation can be done in May and June, selecting healthy and full branches from 1 to 2 years old. Roots can form in about 10 days, and after a month and a half, they can be cut from the mother plant. After another 10 days, the plant can be planted upright for regular care.
Using layering can both propagate seedlings and not affect the fresh flower yield for the year. Layering usually involves using the new, earthy branches from the current year, which can be cut from the mother plant after about a month.
<4. Seed Propagation>
First, select seeds harvested in the current year, which should be plump. Place the seeds in the substrate with a 3*5 cm spacing, cover the seeds with the substrate twice to three times their thickness, and then moisten the播种 substrate with a sprayer or fine-mist flower sprayer. When the potting soil dries, water can be added appropriately.
