Three Simple Methods for Preserving Fresh Flowers
A little knowledge about plants, introducing knowledge about fresh flower care, three simple methods for preserving fresh flowers, very useful tips, recommended for collection!
Fresh flowers that are often arranged in vases cannot maintain their vibrant color for a longer time and tend to wilt early. Here are three simple methods to appropriately extend the longevity of fresh flowers.
1. For roses, cauterize the cut end with fire before placing it in the vase. For chrysanthemums, apply a small amount of mint crystal to the cut end. For chrysanthemums, by adding a trace amount of urea or soil extract (a solution made by stirring soil with water and then filtering it) to the clear water for growing chrysanthemums, the cut flowers can last up to 30 days before wilting, which is more than 10 days longer than using regular clear water. For white magnolias, wrap them in a damp cloth at night and uncover them during the day, which can delay the wilting time by 2-3 days. For hibiscus, first insert into hot water for one to two minutes, then into cool water. For dahlias, dip the cut end into hot water for a moment, then insert into cold water. For peonies, first soak the cut end in hot water, then insert into cold water. For camellias, insert into light saltwater. For lilies, insert into sugared water. For gardenias, add 1-2 drops of fresh meat juice to the water. For narcissus, insert into one-thousandth strength light saltwater. For lotus flowers, block the air holes with mud, then insert into light saltwater.
2. When going on a long trip, remove the fresh flowers from the vase and place them in the vegetable compartment of the refrigerator for storage. They can remain unwilted for a long time. After returning, take them out and place them back in the vase, and they will look lively again.
3. Dissolving aspirin in water can extend the blooming time of cut flowers in a vase.
