Red Olive Jade is a very famous horticultural variety of the Lithops olivacea series. It is loved by many for its almost year-round ruby red window. Red Olive Jade is often compared to C162B (Lithops olivacea v. nebrownii), both of which are very red in the seedling stage. The difference lies in the fact that 162b usually fades to a lighter color in adulthood, while the red olive remains as beautiful as when it was young. Moreover, the degree of redness is not in the same category; 162B is often a light pink, while the red olive is much more vibrant.
Even though it is Red Olive Jade, individual differences still exist. When shedding, it is green before seeing the sunlight and turns red within a few days after exposure to light. The shorter this process, the better the individual. If it takes a long time to turn red, it is usually a relatively inferior individual, and the redness is significantly reduced.
In terms of cultivation, it inherits the excellent qualities of the Lithops olivacea series, being easy to raise, liking sunlight, large temperature differences, and not fond of frequent watering. Flowering is relatively difficult, similar to other Lithops olivacea series varieties, requiring good sunlight and relatively large temperature differences during the flowering period.
