The soil preparation for Lishewan is relatively simple, mixing pearlstone with peat, adding vermiculite and coal slag, with the proportions being flexible, focusing on breathability, and covering the soil surface with river sand. This variety of cactus is not very tolerant to direct sunlight, so during the growing season, water only when the soil is completely dry. For mature plants, try to reduce watering to prevent leggy growth; insufficient light can also cause it to grow tall. Generally, watering is done only when the soil is very dry, aiming to thoroughly saturate the soil.
Summer is the growing season for Lishewan, and the plants also require some shading and ventilation. From July to September, during the high-temperature period, the plants are kept in semi-shaded and well-ventilated conditions. From September to December, the soil should also be kept dry before watering. During the cold winter, when the temperature drops below 2 degrees Celsius, watering is almost entirely stopped as the plants enter a dormant period. Minimal watering can prevent frostbite and root rot due to low temperatures. When the soil is dry, Lishewan can tolerate low temperatures quite well. Generally, I place a pot of water inside the sunroom; if the water freezes, I need to heat it. As long as it's not outdoors, Lishewan can withstand such temperatures.
During the growing season, watering Lishewan is done only after the soil is completely dry. Typically, I water from the top since this variety does not have hair and is less likely to rot. In spring, watering should be gradual and weather changes should be monitored. Lishewan is relatively easy to manage. Propagation is mainly through seeding, although grafting is also an option.
