Accumulating Water Pineapple is a plant from the family Bromeliaceae, subfamily Bromelioideae, an epiphytic plant growing in tropical rainforests. It has the most genera but the least species, most of which have spiral leaves that can store water in the center, and are mostly epiphytic. Many produce berries and wet seeds, which are dispersed by birds and animals, and most leaves have spines. There are a total of 31 genera and 800 species. 1. Watering

Therefore, do not assume that because there is accumulated water, it will not die; clean water is essential.
Watering the roots depends on the situation. For newly purchased Accumulating Water Pineapple, to encourage faster root growth, water more frequently, such as every two days, which helps root development. Some people even practice "waist watering," which involves placing the pot in water up to its middle. Of course, the pot must have a hole at the bottom for this to work, and roots grow quickly this way. I haven't tried this, but from photos shared by enthusiasts, it seems to be effective. I usually water every two to three days, and root growth seems fine. It is said that the roots of pineapples are for stabilization, so less watering is not a big issue. Sometimes, I don't water for half a month in the summer, and it still does well, provided there is accumulated water in the leaves. As long as there is accumulated water in the leaves, it won't die even if it's not planted; this is a characteristic of Accumulating Water Pineapple. The leaves can also absorb water.

Without sunlight, Accumulating Water Pineapple will become very green and lose its original color, and the leaves will grow long and irregularly. Many people like to keep them in aquariums, which requires high-power lighting and is quite electricity-consuming. For environmental protection, I advocate natural cultivation with as much sunlight as possible throughout the day, preferably direct sunlight. In the summer, when the sun is strong, provide some shade, otherwise, it may get sunburned. I had one deep-colored Accumulating Water Pineapple sunburned in the summer, but the others were fine. I've seen Thais grow pineapples with a thin shading net, but they are near the equator. Whether to shade depends on your location, but I personally think that in our country, you don't need to shade in spring, autumn, and winter, just enjoy the sun. Whether to shade in the summer depends on your living environment. Generally, if there's little sunlight on the balcony, there's no problem without shading.
3. Color Development, I believe that low temperature and sunlight are essential conditions for color development, of course, it also depends on the variety. Some varieties are just green and won't change color. Accumulating Water Pineapple is a bit like succulents; in cold weather with plenty of sunlight, they will have vibrant colors. Of course, many Accumulating Water Pineapples will fade in the summer, but some varieties still maintain good color even with sufficient sunlight.
4. Temperature, although Accumulating Water Pineapple is a tropical plant, it has good cold resistance. Generally, above zero degrees is not a problem, but below zero degrees, you need to be careful. It is said that the A and B genera are not as cold-resistant as the N genus, so in colder areas, it's better to plant the N genus. Of course, if there's no heating in winter, temperatures below zero can easily cause frostbite or even death.
