Guangshan has thick stems, green on the upper part and brownish-yellow on the lower part. Basal buds may occasionally form, allowing it to create large clusters. It has gray-green warty protuberances. The areoles are at the top of the warty protuberances, with papery spines that are yellowish-white or brownish-yellow. Flowers appear near the growing point on the top of the warts, funnel-shaped, bright yellow, blooming from July to September. The fruit is yellow-green. It grows well in warm, sunlit greenhouses. Spring and summer are the peak growing seasons, while it dormant in winter. Guangshan is suitable for potted display.
