Grape Fertilization Time
Core Guide to the Main Text: Experience in the timing of grape fertilization, when to fertilize grapes, and detailed content will be shared next.
1. Bud Promoting Fertilizer: Generally applied before grape germination, this time mainly using nitrogen fertilizer (high-analysis water-soluble fertilizer is recommended) to promote even germination, thick leaves, and large inflorescences. If the tree is too vigorous and not dry in spring, this fertilization can be omitted to avoid the excessive growth of new shoots.
2. Swelling Fertilizer: Applied after the grapes are set, when the berries are the size of mung beans to soybeans. This fertilizer is mainly nitrogen-based, with phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. High-nitrogen compound fertilizers can be applied, as well as general three-element compound fertilizers, with an appropriate amount of urea or other nitrogen fertilizers added. The amount of this fertilizer should be large, accounting for about 50% of the annual chemical fertilizer application.
3. Maturing Fertilizer: Done in two applications. 20-30 days before maturity, apply a high-potassium water-soluble fertilizer, and apply another round when the grape berries start to soften but have not yet colored. This fertilization is very important. Many fruit farmers do not apply maturing fertilizer after applying the swelling fertilizer, which may cause fruit discoloration (commonly known as "water jar disease") or poor resistance due to lack of fertilizer, making the grapes susceptible to diseases, resulting in high yield but not high income. Or poor coloring, not high sugar content, and unable to sell at a good price, etc. Functional fertilizers can be directly applied, such as water-soluble fertilizers for color change (recommended high phosphorus and high potassium type, containing trace elements boron and zinc).
4. "Postpartum Fertilizer": Refers to the application of fertilizer immediately after grape harvesting, usually 15 kilograms of water-soluble fertilizer (high nitrogen type). The function of this fertilizer is not only to restore tree vigor but also to promote flower bud differentiation, laying the foundation for the next year's abundant harvest.
5. Autumn Basic Fertilizer (Overwintering Fertilizer): The traditional method is to apply during the grape dormant period. In recent years, it is recommended to apply in August and September, after harvesting grapes, and during the period of green branch and leaf growth. This is the second peak of grape root growth, which can promote the production of a large number of fibrous roots to strengthen the tree and benefit overwintering. This fertilizer mainly consists of organic fertilizers (if using manure, make sure it is fully decomposed), with calcium fertilizers, or a small amount of three-element fertilizers added.
The above () introduces the comprehensive timing of grape fertilization and when it is appropriate to fertilize grapes, hoping to bring some relevant knowledge to netizens.
